Instagram Creators featured RV Mendoza in a brand partnership introducing Edits assistant, a new tool that helps creators read their Instagram performance and develop ideas for future videos.

The collaboration appeared September 30, 2026, in a Reel published jointly by Instagram Creators and RV Mendoza. RV explains how creators can use the assistant to understand what is working in their content. A version of the video also appears on RV’s TikTok.

The Reel appeared first on the verified Instagram Creators account, Instagram’s official guide for creators.

What is Instagram Edits?

Instagram Edits is Meta’s standalone app for filming, editing, and publishing video from a phone. It launched in April 2025 with a frame-accurate timeline, clip-level editing, green screen, transitions, project management, and direct sharing to Instagram and Facebook. Creators can also export a finished video without an added watermark and publish it elsewhere.

The app has grown beyond the timeline. As Meta explained after Edits’ first year, its Ideas area brings together saved Reels, audio, notes, and personalized inspiration. Edits also gives creators performance information such as skip rate, which can help them find the moments when viewers leave a video.

That combination matters because editing decisions and performance data usually live in different places. A creator may cut a video in one app, publish it in another, review the numbers later, then open a blank note to plan what comes next. Edits puts more of that work in one app.

RV helped steer the development of Edits

RV’s relationship with Edits began before this launch campaign. As a member of Instagram’s Edits Council, RV helped steer the app’s development by giving the product team a working creator’s perspective on strategy, editing workflows, and user experience.

That work gave RV a view of the product from both sides: how a creator moves through the app while making a video, and how individual tools support the larger creative process. The council role also brought RV’s background as a software engineer into conversations about what creators need from the interface.

The council membership, Camp Edits teaching, and this Edits assistant partnership belong to one continuing relationship with the product. RV contributed to the app’s development, taught creators how to use it, and now explains a new feature through the decisions that follow publication.

What does Edits assistant do?

Edits assistant helps creators analyze their Instagram insights and brainstorm content ideas from what the data shows. According to Instagram Creators, the assistant began rolling out to Edits users in the United States on September 30.

The feature gives creators another way to question their performance instead of scanning a collection of numbers without context. A creator can look for patterns in what held attention, what prompted people to respond, and which ideas may deserve another attempt. The assistant can then help generate possible directions for the next video.

Its suggestions still need a creator’s judgment. Performance data can point to a strong opening or an idea people wanted to discuss, but the numbers cannot decide what belongs in a creator’s voice. The practical value comes from shortening the distance between reviewing a post and beginning the next one.

RV brings a working creator’s perspective to the product

RV’s role in the partnership is specific: explain a new product through the decisions creators already make after they publish.

Earlier in 2026, RV also used the app in a live Camp Edits lesson about hooks, pacing, captions, retention, and emotional connection. The session used RV’s original comedy series, Better Than Everyone, as a real editing system that other creators could examine.

The new Instagram Creators feature moves to the next part of the process. Once a video is public, a creator has to decide what the response means and what to make with that information. RV gives Edits assistant a concrete job inside that decision.
